The Borough was named after the Malvern Hills, which are close to the Welsh border in England. Welsh settlers first settled in Malvern in the 1600s. William Penn sold them the land for 10 cents an acre. Malvern was incorporated as a borough in 1889. Malvern is the last stop on Philadelphia’s historic Main Line Railroad. Though tracks have been laid west of Malvern, it is still considered the end of the Main Line.
